traverse of the Pir Panjal, Himalaya and Zanskar ranges trek
which is also called as mother of all Himalayan traverse. This

DAY 1 - DELHI
Arrive Delhi. Assistance and garland welcome upon
arrival. Transfer to hotel. Morning free time for rest.
Afternoon halfday sightseeing tour to visit the Red Fort, Jama
Masjid, Gandhi Memorial, and Humayun Tomb and while returning
back to your hotel drive past the India Gate and President’s
Palace. Overnight at the Hotel.
DAY 2 - DELHI / CHANDIGARH
Morning depart by train to Chandigarh. Early
afternoon arrive at Chandigarh and transfer to the hotel. After
lunch a half day sightseeing of Chandigarh City which is the
most well planned city of India. Also visit Chandigarh’s most
famous Rock Garden. Overnight stay at the Hotel.
Day 3 - CHANDIGARH / MANALI
(Drive ~ 320 Kms. / 8 hrs. drive)
Morning after having breakfast drive to Manali via
plains of Punjab and later winding the way through the hills of
Kullu and Manali with beautiful villages and rivers gushing down
along the road. En route stop for a lunch break. Late evening
arrive at Manali. Check-in at the Hotel. Overnight stay at the
Hotel.
DAY 4 - MANALI
After breakfast leave for a half day acclimatization
tour of the town. Manali is a famous hill resort and we will be
visiting the Hadimba Devi Temple, Vashist hot sulphur springs
where you can have a dip to relieve tiredness. Also visit the
lovely Old Manali village and the scenic Naggar Castle.
Afternoon visit to the old market town. Overnight stay at the
Hotel.
DAY 5 - MANALI / DARCHA
(Drive ~ 135 Kms. / 7 hrs.)
Early morning after breakfast we drive to Darcha over
the Rohtang
Pass (3990 meters). The drive through the Cedar trees along the
rivers with magnificent views is superb. En route stop for tea
and lunch breaks. Afternoon arrive at Darcha the first camping
site. Overnight stay at the Camps.
DAY 6 - DARCHA / PALAMO
(TREK ~ 5 HRS.)
Today is the first trekking day. Morning after
breakfast trek to Palamo, leaving the road-head after about one
hour walk, passing through the villages and agriculture fields,
early afternoon we reach at Palamo. The campsite at Palamo is
near the river with scenic meadows where we will be pitching our
camps. Overnight stay at the Camp.
DAY 7 - PALAMO / RAMJAK
(TREK ~ 6 HRS.)
Early morning after breakfast trek to Ramjak via
Zanskar Sumdo. Walk along the river at Zanskar Sumdo. Stop for
lunch break after crossing the suspension bridge. A steep track
across the river brings
to Ramjak, a small camping place. Overnight stay at the Camps.
DAY 8 - RAMJAK / CHUMIK NAKPO
(TREK ~ 4 HRS.)
Today’s trek is a short acclimatization trek to the
base of
Shingo La. The walk is over the boulders and few snow bridge
negotiations is involved during season time. Arrive at the camp
and overnight stay at the Camps.
DAY 9 - CHUMIK NAKPO / LAKANG
(TREK ~ 7 HRS.)
Today very early in the morning after breakfast start
trekking towards Shingo La (5100 meters0. After about 4 hrs.
reach Shingo La top . From the pass you get a beautiful view of
the Zanskar range of mountains. From the pass descend down to
Lakang and a lovely campsite awaits you. Overnight stay at the
Camps.
DAY 10 - LAKANG / KARGIAK
(TREK~ 6 HRS.)
Morning after breakfast walk to Kargiak. The route is
dotted with alpine flowers like edelweiss, gentians, blue moon
etc. You may also encounter marmots and butterfly’s. Today you
will also encounter the first major Buddhist signs, like the
mani walls and mani stones en route, huge white chortens and
scenic farm lands. Overnight stay at the Camps.
DAY 11 KARGIAK / PURNE
(TREK ~ 8 HRS)
Today after an early breakfast trek to Purne via
Tetha village. Passing through scenic corn and potato fields and
meeting the locals enroute we reach Purne village. The village
has old ruins and huge colored chortens. We will be camping near
to the village. Overnight stay in camps.
DAY 12 - PURNE / PHUKTAL GOMPA / PURNE
(TREK ~ 4 HRS.)
Today after a leisurely breakfast we take a day
excursion walk along the river upto the majestic Phuktal Gompa
beautifully hidden inside the rocky mountain, like a cave. As we
get closer a grand cascading white structure appears in front of
us. The pioneer of Tibetan studies, Kosmos de Koros lived here
during 1852 to 1856. The entire place is serene and peaceful
with young monks attired in their red robes and the lamas
praying with drums and cymbals, creating a spiritual atmosphere.
Later after the visit return trek to Purne. Overnight stay at
the Camps.
DAY 13 - PURNE / ICHAR
(TREK ~ 5 HRS.)
Morning after breakfast trek to Ichar. On the way you
would chance meet the traders coming from Padum bringing all
types of goods. Overnight stay at the Camps.
DAY 14 - ICHAR / MUNE
(TREK ~ 6 HRS.)
After breakfast trek to Mune and on the way you may
visit a small local school where Buddhist children come to seek
modern education. Just above the school, stop for lunch break
near a small lake. Afternoon arrive at Mune and camp overnight
in Camps. Evening visit to the Mune Gompa. Witness the evening
prayer performance at the Gompa.
DAY 15 - MUNE / PADUM
(TREK ~ 6 HRS.)
Morning after breakfast trek to Padum. En route visit
the Bardan Monastery which belongs to the red hat sect. Lunch
break and further walk down to Padum. In the afternoon arrive at
Padum- the erstwhile capital of Zanskar Valley. The place is
dotted with huge chorthens and gompas and in the back drop the
beautiful mountain range. Dinner and overnight stay at the
Camps.
DAY 16 - AT PADUM
Full day sightseeing of the local village and also
visit to the Karsha monastery, which happens to be the biggest
gompa of the region. At any given time there are nearly 100
resident monks living at the premises of the gompa. Also visit
the Stongde Gompa situated majestically on top of the mountain.
The monks’ here offer to all the visitors local made tea (butter
tea) and tsampa (roasted barley flour). In the evening we will
enjoy a farewell dinner hosted by our kitchen and field staff.

DAY 17 - PADUM / KARGIL
(DRIVE ~ 10 HRS. DRIVE)
Today very early in the morning drive to Kargil and
en route visit the Ringdom monastery, after crossing the Pensi
La. We will be having fabulous views of Nun & Kun peaks (7077
meters) on the way to Kargil at Parchachik village. Late
afternoon arrive at Kargil and stay overnight at the Hotel.
DAY 18 - KARGIL / LEH
(DRIVE ~ 6 HRS.)
Morning after breakfast drive to Leh. En route visit
the Mulbek monastery. The monastery has a huge monolithic statue
of Maitrey Buddha (future Budha). Further on to your drive we
will stop at 11th. Century old Lamayuru monastery on the way.
Early in the afternoon arrive at Leh. Check-in at the Hotel.
Overnight stay at the Hotel.
DAY 19 - AT LEH
Morning we visit the famous nearby monasteries of
Shey and Thikshey. Shey was once the residence of the royal
family and is famous for its 8.5-meter high copper gilded statue
of Buddha. In the afternoon visit the Thikshey Gompa, which is
one of the most impressive monasteries and is famous for its
collection of various images, stupas, ancient tankhas and
exquisite wall paintings. It also houses a two-storied statue of
Buddha. Later in the late afternoon return back to the hotel.
Afternoon free. You may just relax at the hotel terrace, sipping
local tea and enjoying the mesmerizing local views or visit
Ladakh Ecological Center or some shopping in the Tibetan bazaars
of Leh town. Overnight stay at the Hotel.
DAY 20 - AT LEH
After breakfast leave for a halfday sightseeing trip
to see the Shankar monastery, about 200 years old, it contains
plethora of impressive images and frescoes with huge statue of
Aloketesvara-with 1000 arms and heads. Next visit the Japanese
built peace Pagoda (Shanti Stupa). The Pagoda was built about 11
years back. The winding road leading to it offers enthralling
views of the countryside. Crowned with massive dome, this stupa
is a reminiscent of Nalanda & Rajgir stupas. This grand
structure is the symbol of the spiritual ties between the people
of Ladakh and Japan.
Finally visit the ruined Leh Palace a look a like of the Patola
Palace of Lhasa in Tibet. The Palace was built strategically on
the hilltop in the 18th. Century. You will have fabulous views
of the Indus valley below.
Afternoon visit a Ladakhi Buddhist family and share a cup of
rancid butter tea, tsampa (roasted barley) and tschang
(fermented barley beer), and see their way of living. Evening
free. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel.
DAY 21 - AT LEH
Day free for independent activities. Overnight stay
at the Hotel.
DAY 22 - LEH / DELHI
Morning departure transfer to the airport to board
Delhi bound flight. Arrive at Delhi, meeting and assistance upon
arrival and transfer to the Hotel. Afternoon free for rest and
relaxation. Overnight stay at the Hotel.
DAY 23 - DELHI / AGRA / DELHI
Today we will take you on a same day return trip to
Agra. The city is famous all over the world because of its major
attraction of Taj Mahal. We leave Delhi by super fast deluxe
train and arrive at Agra and visit the sights and sounds of the
city. You will be shown Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and in the
afternoon we take you to a Five Star Hotel for Buffet lunch.
Evening depart by the same train for Delhi. Arrive at Delhi and
transfer to the Hotel.
DAY 24 - LEAVE DELHI
Morning full day sightseeing tour of Delhi. Evening
visit to Dances of India show and farewell dinner at the Village
Bistro. Late evening departure transfer to the International
Airport to board onward destination flight.
