Day 1 - DELHI /
DEHRADUN
Arrive Dehradun at 0845 by an overnight train journey
from Delhi. Meeting and transfer to Hotel. Rest of the day free
to explore the interesting town of Dehra Dun or to visit the
five interesting museums of the Forest Research Institute.
Overnight at hotel.
Day 2 – DEHRADUN / MUSSOORIE / DHANOLTI
In the morning drive to Mussoorie “Queen of Hills”
enroute visiting a Deer Park. We spend about three hours in this
beautiful hill resort and after lunch drive to the lovely view
point of Dhanolti at 7000 ft. Overnight at tourist bungalow.
Day 3 – DHANOLTI / SURKANDA / DHANOLTI
Three hours return trek to Surkanda Devi temple at
8500 feet for a glorious view of the entire Garhwal Himalayas
stretching to over 350 km. Rest of the day to enjoy short walks
in the woods. Overnight at Tourist Bungalow.
Day 4 – DHANOLTI / GANGOTRI
10 hours drive to Gangotri at 9500 feet through
several villages. The route from Tehri (site of the biggest Dam
in Asia under construction) is along the legendary Bhagirathi
river. Overnight at tourist Bungalow.
Day 5 – GANGOTRI / BHOJBAS
Early morning spend about an hour after breakfast in
the Gangotri temple dedicated to the holi Ganga, visited by
hundreds of Hindus from all over the country and abroad every
day. Then walk on a well made almost levelled path for about 6
hours to Bhojbas at 11000 feet. The entire route provides
spectacular views of the Mt. Matri, Bhagirathi and Shivling
group of peaks.
Overnights in tents.
Day 6 – BHOJBAS / GAUMUKH
Day to make a 4 hours return trek to the Source of
holi Ganga (Bhagirathi) river at 12700 feet at snout of Gangotri
glacier. It is a walk providing close views of Mt. Bhagirathi
and Shivling. Overnight in camp.
Day 7 – BHOJBAS / GANGOTRI
5 hours return trek to Gangotri. Rest of the day to
spend visiting the saints and sages and watching people
performing various religious rites by the side of the holi Ganga.
This provides an extraordinary experience.
Day 8 – GANGOTRI / TEHRI
7 hours drive to Tehri via Uttarkashi. Overnight at
Tourist Bungalow.
Day 9 – TEHRI / GAURIKUND
9 hours drive through very pretty landscape covering
villages, pine forests and terraced town bustling with pilgrims
for take off to Kedarnath. Overnight at Tourist Bungalow.
Day 10 – GAURIKUND / KEDARNATH
13 km. Trek on Ponies to the Kedarnath shrine at
11000 ft. dedicated to Lord Shiva - the Annihilator on way we
shall meet hundreds of pilgrims men, women, children, young and
some bent with age trekking, riding and some even being carried
either on the back of porters or in a palanquin.
The route is lined with tea shops, eating places and beggersand
Sadhus blessing people. A magnificent close view of Mt.
Kedarnath and Bhartekunta both above 21000 feet high awaits us
about 4 km. Short of the temple.
Overnight at tourist bungalow.
Day 11 – KEDARNATH / GAURIKUND /
SONAPRAYAG
Spend about two hours after early breakfast
photographing the spectacular sites and visiting the temple.
Later walk down to Gaurikund which takes about three hours.
After lunch drive to Sonaprayag for overnight stay at Tourist
Bungalow.
Day 12 – SONPRAYAG / CHOPTA
Four hours most enjoyable drive through very pretty
country side, occasionally providing grand mountain Panoramas to
Chopta, one of the most beautiful view points of Indian
Himalayas at 8000 feet. Overnight in Tents.
Day 13 – CHOPTA / MANDAL
During the forenoon we make a 6 km. Return trek to
Tungnath at 11000 feet for a glorious view of Mt. Nandadevi
(Third highest peak in India), Mt. Chaukhamba and Kedarnath
group of peaks.
It is an unforgettable site. In April - May the route will be
lined with different kinds of Rhododendron flowers in bloom and
in October the beautiful pale yellow autumn colour will feast
the eyes. After lunch we drive to Mandal enroute visiting the
Muskdeer breeding farm where we may also see the beautiful Monal
Pheasants.
Day 14 – MANDAL / BADRINATH
8 hours via Gopeshwar, Chamoli and Joshimath to
Badrinath at 10200 feet. Overnight in a simple tourist Bungalow.
In the evening visit the Badrinath shrines dedicated to Lord
Vishnu, the preserver. It is one of the four most sacred hrines
for Hindus visited by hundreds of devotees every day. The
beautiful Mt. Neekanth 21 645 feet high peak provides a
spectacular view. A visit to the temple and the town is a
rewarding experience.
Day 15 – BADRINATH / CHAMOLI
After viewing the morning sun shine on Neelkanth and
perhaps one more visit to the town we drive to Chamoli for
overnight in a tented camp.
Day 16 – CHAMOLI / DEHRADUN
8 hrs return drive to Dehradun via Rishikesh. After
early dinner, transfer to railway station to board Mussoorie
Express departing at 19550 hrs.
Day 17 – DELHI
Arrive Delhi at 0700 hrs. Meeting and transfer to
hotel.
Afternoon you will start sightseeing tour of Old and New Delhi.
An aura of history is everywhere in Old Delhi. Red Fort with its
majestic ramparts and Jamia Masjid one of the Asia’s largest
mosques from the hub. Emperor Humayun’s Tomb and Qutub Minar
complex, dating back to the 12th century. You will also make a
stop at Rajghat - Mahatma Gandhi’s final resting place.
New Delhi is well planned with wide tree lined avenues,
fountains and parks. Colonial architecture dominates this part
of the city; you will drive along the ceremonial avenues of
Rajpath and view the splendid Presidential Palace, the circular
Parliament House and impressive diplomatic enclave.
Your India Adventure experience comes to an end as you are
transferred to the International airport to board your homebound
flight.
